Day 5: I’m Still Standing – Elton John

We left out of London this morning at 9:00 am to make it to Windsor for our tour of the castle and of the town. It was extra exciting because the queen was actually there. It was an hour drive and as soon as we got outside of the city, we met up with our tour guide who showed us around the town and around the outside of the castle.
The town was full of stores, gift shops, and restaurants with pretty landscapes. We walked to the park on the other side of town so that we could get a front view of Windsor Castle, where we took our group photo of the class. I thought the whole town was beautiful and I got to take a lot of photos and video that I can use for my practicum video.
When we actually made our way into the castle for the tour we had to go through security. My phone fell out of my bag and the guard refused to help me find it. After asking him 4 times he saw it underneath the conveyer belt. We walked through to get out tour headsets and our tour guide gave us some insight into the modifications that have been made to the castle like some of the towers.  I loved the moat garden that surrounded the one part of the castle because it had so many beautiful plants and landscaping with a pond, fountain, and benches. Some of the queen’s guard marched passed us a few times too.
Our tour guide left us at the beginning of the tour inside of the castle, and we got to see out into the surrounding areas. We walked through the castle that included the large banquet room, the throne room, and the king and queens bedrooms. I thought it was cool to look at all of the paintings inside, but there was no photos or videos of any kind so I was pretty bummed about that. We walked through singing the Game of Thrones theme song because a lot of the artifacts reminded us of things in the show. When we walked out of the castle to the Cathedral which in itself was a sight to see. I got to stop in the gift shop and pick up a few things to remember the visit.
After leaving the castle we were all pretty starving so our group went to a restaurant called Cambridge where I got an amazing steak and ale pie, served with mashed potatoes and gravy. It was so big I couldn’t even finish it but I wish  I could have. Then Lexi wanted to go to T.K. Maxx to buy a duffle bag for some of there stuff. I went with her and ended up finding a few shirts and a belt.
We met up with the rest of the group again at 3:00 and got back on the bus to head into Stratford. It was only supposed to take 2 hours to get here, but it ended up taking like three. We got to the hotel and got to put our stuff in the hotel rooms then headed downstairs for a group meeting. We all talked about our favorite moments from the media visits and some of the stuff we have learned so far.
I had about 10 minutes to get changed for dinner and then we walked to the Old Thatch Tavern for a group dinner. We had salad and pork chops with carrots. I wasn’t a big fan of the food so David ended up eating most of the food on my plate. It ended well with vanilla ice cream for dessert that was really good. When we were walking out of the restaurant I was really happy because I saw people in the pub with their dogs on the couch drinking beer, and I could really picture myself as them. Currently, me, Dara, Lexi, Julia, and Naomi are doing facemasks to unwind from the day.
