Kelsey Braun

Nervous Nancy, but my name is Kelsey.

I’ve been stuck Pittsburgh my entire life and honestly, I am not complaining.  I love my city.  I’ve always wanted to go to school here, and that is typically my go-to excuse when I’m asked why I haven’t ventured too far beyond Pittsburgh yet in my nearly 27 years.

I fell in love with Point Park and the School of Communication long before I mustered up the courage to apply.  I am in the middle of downtown Pittsburgh for most of the week; right where I want to be.

I never imagined that my academics would take me elsewhere, especially overseas.

It seemed surreal to be presented with the opportunity to travel to the United Kingdom.  A lot of preparation has gone into this trip.  Various guest speakers have visited our International Media class; from Britsburgh to Point Park staff preaching to us about following the Student Code of Conduct while abroad.

What I haven’t been prepared for, and what I don’t think I really can prepare for, is the airplane ride.

I’ve never been on an airplane before.  I’ve never even been to an airport.  I don’t know how an airport works.

I haven’t reviewed the Student Code of Conduct in-depth enough to know if I’m allowed to utilize the airport bar to help calm my nerves.

I cannot wait to see the United Kingdom.  What I can wait for (it’s going to happen whether I like it or not – you know what I mean) is the 7+ hour airplane ride over an entire ocean.
