Well, the time had come for my last hotel breakfast. Thankfully, it was delicious. We checked out of the hotel, boarded the bus, and went into the airport. After a draining security check-in and flight from Edinburgh to London, we began our wait in Heathrow.
We waited. And waited. And. Waited. We began our wait knowing already that we would have a layover, but we didn’t know that it would be as long as it turned out to be. We waited in the airport for hours. Thankfully I found a quiet area with comfortable chairs where I could wait and work on my blogs for a few hours, but after that we waited in a gate with no answers about our plane. It took far too long for us to figure out that our flight was delayed because of technical issues. We waited around for a few hours to finally get our gate and get on the plane. However, once we finally got onto the plane, we had to wait even longer to take off because they were still working on the plane. My flight anxiety went from 100 to 1000 in the time that we sat there. But, nevertheless we eventually took off and I was able to nod off on the flight.
We landed a short eight hours later in good ol’ Pittsburgh. By this time I was basically vibrating with excitement. I was meeting my boyfriend once I got through customs and I hadn’t seen him in two entire years. Did I cry a few times in line for customs? It’s possible. I definitely cried going down the escalator when I finally got to see him. After getting a drink from Starbucks we got into the car and got on the road. Although I was sad to leave, I was ready to finally sleep in my own bed. Until next time, UK. You were good to me, but for now, time to catch up on some sleep.
