It’s day two in Scotland and as I’m mentioned in my last blog post, I truly am not convinced that this is place is real. In describing Edinburgh to my friends, I’ve described it as “something out a storybook.” If you think of a old time town that’s extremely picturesque, you’re probably thinking of Edinburgh.
Seeing as this is an educational experience, our first real day in Edinburgh was the final day of media visits in the United Kingdom. Our first visit was at the French Embassy to meet with Oliver Davies who works for the marketing department of the Edinburgh Fringe Society. This charity is responsible for the execution of the world’s largest street festival, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Oliver talked us through as much as he could without giving too much detail away about the festival that’s set to take place in August of this year. One of the most intriguing points about the Fringe is that there are over 3,000 different performances at over 300 venues in Edinburgh.
During the break between sessions, Angela and I found ourselves wandering back to the hotel to take a breather before exploring the city yet again. We found this cute little cafe a couple doors down from the famous The White Elephant cafe. The White Elephant is where J.K. Rowling wrote the first chapter of Harry Potter.
With a vanilla latte in my hand and an almond croissant on the plate in front of me, I was ready to conquer not only the next visit, but the rest of the day.
Our last and final media visit of the trip found us in the Norloch Building. The Norloch Building is home to Whitespace, one of the largest agencies in Scotland. There we met David and Chris, who talked us through their joint adventure in Finse, Norway. They spent four days in Finse to shoot content for Shackleton Whiskey.
After two media visits, a nap was essential for the rest of the day.
My nap left me excited and ready to explore with a tiny, tiny bit of more energy. We found this place called Bertie’s Proper Fish & Chips. I bet you can guess what we had for dinner tonight. It was such a large fish that Angela and I could have easily split one, but the food was phenomenal.
When dinner was over, we decided to walk around the streets to just take everything in that we possibly could in such a short amount of time. The result? A lot of Instagram photos.
Most people on this trip have a solid plan for what their free day entails. I can assure you that my free day will be not planned, and not starting at 7 a.m. Other than that, the rest is up to your imagination. Stay tuned!
