Magic in Edinburgh

The beginning of the day started off in Manchester Airport where everything seemed unorganized and hectic. I thought it was a start off to a bad day besides the strawberry lemonade I had from Costa. The flight was short and so was our bus to the hotel.

Our hotel is very small but has a lot of cute elements in it. Our room has a chalkboard sudoku on the wall and a bunch of comic book covers. The lobby has a small gift stop and little writings all over the walls. The desk in our room had little jars with the teas, sugar cubes , and even cups with caramel chocolates for hot chocolate in them.

After checking into the hotel, the real magic began. We headed up a lots of steps to the top of Edinburgh Castle. It was painful but worth the view. The hill overlooked most of Edinburgh from the water into the mountains. The castle was a lot different than Windsor. It was a lot smaller with only a few rooms and seemed quite empty.Windsor had a lot of elaborate furniture and designs which Edinburgh did not.  It has one room with Crown Jewels which was nothing compared to Windsor. It only had one crown in it but the Ruby ring in it was gorgeous.

Edinburgh’s Castle sits on top of the Royal Mile. The Royal Mile was a street that goes down into sea level that is filled with shops and pubs. There were little hang outs at the end of each street called Closes that were named after famous people. Now along the road there are a lot of tourist shops and Harry Potter themed places.

Edinburgh has a hug appreciation for Harry Potter or J.K. Rowling in general. They have her hand print in one of the alley ways. Coincidentally, our hotel is on the corner of Victoria Street which is the inspiration to Diagon Alley. There is a wizard shop on the street where I got a bottle of Butterbeer. To sign the receipt of my purchase, they even a sorting hat with the four pens for each of the houses.  When coming to Edinburgh, I had no idea Harry Potter played a huge role here as much as London. Hopefully, I get to spend more time doing magical things in this town before we leave.
