Day Six: I meet William Shakesbear

Today’s trip was interesting and exhausting. We woke up in Stratford-upon-Avon and began a guided walking tour of the town. During this we learned a lot about Shakespeare and his life there.

This being said, it is interesting to note that a lot about Shakespeare is unknown. People often speculate about his life and what happened but very few things are actually know. For example, only 12 signatures of his exist and all were spelled differently. Also, an almost entire decade is missing in his timeline where he apparently left Stratford-upon-Avon and then popped up again in London seven years later.

We then toured his birthplace home, which was really interesting. As a huge history nerd it was so cool to see such an old structure still standing and looking as good as it does. While there, I even purchased a stuffed bear they called a “Shakesbear.”

Post this museum trip, we walked around the town and got some lunch (Subway, which I know is so international) and wandered around before boarding our bus for our next destination- Liverpool.

The ride to Liverpool was pretty long, about 2.5 hours. I spent the time reading a new book, “One Flew Over the Cookoo’s Nest.” Eventually though we made it to our hotel and had a couple minutes to relax.

After this, we went to dinner at a Greek place called “Grilla.” It was amazing and totally hit the spot but the amount of food was insane. As I am writing this, I am still in a massive food coma even thinking about it.

Now I am heading off to bed to get ready for a fun day including a Beatle’s tour of Liverpool. So until next time….
