Day 7: Here Comes the (Liverpool) Sun

We may have had a large dinner, but I still woke up ready for a delicious breakfast. Mya, Jocelyn, and I went to a nearby cafe for some pancakes, waffles, and coffee, and they did not disappoint. It was nice to be able to take our time in the morning since we didn’t have to be at The Beatles tour until 1 pm. We mosied around a little before meeting our group and embarking on our three hour bus adventure.

One thing I have to point out is that it was a gorgeous day for our an outdoor tour. We have been truly blessed with beautiful weather on this trip – so much so that we will all be ruined and expect it to be this gorgeous the next time we make it back here! Our guide for the tour was named Joey, and he was entertaining and very knowledgeable when it came to Beatles trivia. Three hours of hopping on and off a bus (or two buses in our case due to a faulty original one) was a bit of a headache, but I really did enjoy the tour and hearing some fun facts that I did not previously know about the members of the band.

We got to see each member of the band’s home and drove past Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields. I have always been a fan of The Beatles, specifically Paul McCartney, but going on a tour like this gave me a new appreciation for their music. I just found it really fascinating to be in the places they had been and see the place where Paul and John Lennon met for the first time. Who would have ever known what was to come out of that chance meeting.

We finished the tour, and naturally, my mind went to food again. Jocelyn and Mya were luckily on the same page as me, so us three went to Nando’s to see if it could be just as good the second time around. Fortunately for us, it was, and we all left that meal momentarily satisfied. That is, until we realized all the shops we planned on visiting were closed. Since it was a Sunday, everything shut down at 5 pm, and we had limited options on what to do. Jocelyn and I were able to find a Starbucks that was at least open until 8 pm so we could work on our blogs with a cool beverage. After we practically got kicked out at 7:58, we headed back to the hotel for the night, and I got to talk to my family for a little bit. After all, it was Mother’s Day in the U.S.! Once again, it was a great end to a great day as I finished packing to hit the road in the morning.
