Stratford-upon-Avon
We woke up the next morning and departed for a walking Shakespeare tour around Stratford-upon-Avon. Stratford-upon-Avon is known for being the birthplace of famous English poet William Shakespeare. Shakespeare was known for being a poet, playwright, an actor and was widely regarded as the most excellent writer in the English language.
The tour took us around different buildings that Shakespeare was believed to have been. The interesting thing about Shakespeare is that there isn’t much information about him. The only records they have are a baptism certificate, death certificate, and the only five documents that Shakespeare singed—all written with a different style of handwriting and spelled differently.
The tour consisted of visiting Shakespeare’s childhood home, the school he was believed to attend, the theater he performed in, and the church that he was buried in. We were able to walk through Shakespeare’s home, that was extremely small, considering how many people were said to live in the house.
After the tour, we sat down at a little café for lunch before doing a little shopping around Stratford-upon-Avon before we departed for Liverpool.
Liverpool
When we arrived at Liverpool, we unpacked out baggage in the hotel room and then walked to dinner for the night, which was at a Greek restaurant. I’ve never eaten authentic Greek before, and I can honestly say that I have never seen so much food served in one sitting.
After dinner, a group of us went back to the hotel for a while before heading back out to check out the bar scene at Liverpool and celebrate my birthday. It was so fun being able to go out with new friends I made in a brand-new country.
