Influences of Windsor

The first day outside of London required a decent amount of traveling on a bus. First, we had to drive an hour to Windsor and then two hours from Windsor to Stratford Upon Avon. The Windsor Castle was a nice start to a relaxing day.

The Windsor Castle was the most informative part of this trip so far for me. It was filled with so much historical information especially in the State Apartments. For such a historical place, it was unique to see that they used walking headsets for visitors to learn more about the rooms.

The rooms were covered in elaborate paintings, gold, chandeliers and detailed furniture. It was truly breathtaking. My photography and visual interest revolve around theatre, costuming and elaborate designs so seeing all the rooms in their glory inspired/informed me more on my work. Most of my photography projects in school are based on the ideas of royalty. For one of my final projects, I focused on the Rococo period that was an inspiration for one of the rooms in the State Apartments. The rooms were also inspired by other time periods like the Renaissance and Medieval Times.

Once again, I could not take pictures inside, but I did take lots of pictures outside. The castle and churches surrounded it are filled with beautiful architecture. The beautiful Sunday day with the clouds made Windsor seem like it was in a Disney movie.
