Day Five: Now Playing “On the Road Again”

Today’s journey began bright and early. We loaded up our luggage and got on the bus to leave London. It was bittersweet because I loved the city but was also excited to begin to see the English countryside.

The bus ride took us out to Windsor Castle. Walking out  of the bus and into the town, I was in awe. Looking down the road at the little town, it was the quintessential little English town with cobblestone streets and small old houses. The castle itself was a towering figure over the whole town which made it look like it was straight out of a movie.

We walked around the grounds and saw the road where Meghan and Harry drove out after their wedding. As an avid fan of both Meghan and Harry, I was freaking out. This ended up being a recurring theme for me during the day as the pair got married on the grounds.

Another interesting fact about this day trip to Windsor is that Her Majesty, the Queen was staying at Windsor Castle. Meghan, Harry and Archie (such a cute name!) were also in Windsor at their smaller estate.

Once we cleared security and got into the castle grounds, I felt like I was in Game of Thrones. It is amazing that the building is so old but still standing and so beautiful. We went inside and looked at the State Rooms that were used by King Charles II and Queen Catherine. They were absolutely beautiful and beyond ornate. It was crazy to think that people actually live in this building to this day.

We also then went inside St. George’s Chapel where I, once again, freaked out over the fact that Meghan and Harry got married there. It was smaller than I was expecting a little musty to be honest. That being said it was very beautiful and I loved being able to see it up close. Unfortunately I could not take any photos in the State Rooms and the St. George Chapel.

After this, we left and had a quick lunch at a pub called The Duchess of Cambridge. This is a common theme in Windsor, many restaurant are named after the royal family such as Prince Harry’s and Queen Charlotte’s.

Post-lunch, we went back to our bus and got on the road again. This next section of the trip was about two hours and took us to Stratford-Upon-Avon. Once here we checked into our hotel and had a nice dinner in a nearby Pub.

Now as I am laying in bed I am feeling a little funky due to my allergies so I think it is time to relax and take it easy to get ready for a long day again tomorrow.
