Day One: aka the most tiresome day I’ve experienced in years

Okay so, let me start off by saying that this was a super nerve-wrecking, exciting and productive day. Day one of this trip, I knew would be full of “pinch me” moments, feeling like you’re not “across the pond” and trying to get accustomed to people driving on the WRONG side of the road.

So I woke up yesterday and ended up in a new country the next… sounds cool right? Yeah it WAS, until I got on the plane and realized I was not getting more than two hours of sleep to last me the entire day. Luckily, I was able to groan with my fellow peers about this because they too, understood my pain.

Sleep is important. Sleep is necessary. Being sleep deprived is not the move.

Anyways, we get to the airport in Heathrow?? London. And we’re all tired but still making it through, everyone uses the “toilets” and gets into the “coach” with our coordinator Mr. David. Super dope guy by the way.

This “coach” also happens to be a large bus, so that’s nice. Shout out to the bus driver.

Anyways, we find out that we’re off to a bus tour… woo right? No. Because we’re tired even though being in a new country is way too exciting to close our heavy eyelids. But we manage somehow. Don’t ask me what I learned on the bus tour… I was half listening.

Then we get off the bus to see the Buckingham Palace… dope. The QUeen wasn’t even there… underwhelming but whatever.

We got to explore and eat lunch… that was cool, we went to Wagamama’s which is basically a noodle place. Then, we moved onto the Tower of London tour which was less than impressive in my opinion. But still interesting if you like learning about random history I guess… and torture, war… ya know… British conqueror stuff.

By the end of this, I was drained… literally could’ve fallen asleep anywhere but alas, my suffering continued when we went back to the hotel and had 35 minutes to get ready for a briefing about the tube… it was tumultuous to say the least. My eyelids felt like weights.

After thAt, we had fish and chips for dinner…salt? Yeah, don’t know her apparently. But it was good, the fries were pretty delectable once seasoned. I was warned the food would be less than average but I have my hopes up because London seems like a relatively diverse place so there seems to be a place for everyone. Kind of like New York or DC but British.

I was mostly distraught about the amount of time we did not have in order to rest, literally meeting right after hours of tours and walking had me on another planet. I think it was worth it to suffer in silence (mostly) until bed. I slept beyond well.

And for your eyes….
