A Rainy British but Italian Day

Today’s agenda seemed a lot more hectic when looking at the schedule. My class had to wake up early for today’s lectures. The first lecture was Battenhall. Battenhall is a popular PR agency who is quite different than the rest. The lecture was intense and long due to all the different people who talked but all of them had something new to say.

One thing I enjoyed about Battenhall was the atmosphere. They are a company that made me want to walk for them rather than putting me to sleep. The company is only 6 years old, so it is very modern and filled with a variety of different people. Most of the team members looked about in our age range or only a decade older. They all dressed casual but well put together and were extremely friendly. Also, the company is located on a open floor where the team members all hang out and pull pranks on each other while discussing important topics. The company is very flexible when it comes to their workers, and they have unlimited vacation time if needed. All these benefits made the company stronger rather than lazy. If this was like companies back home, I would think most people would not show up to work or do the work. However, Battenhall’s team members actually want to do the work because of how less stressful it is compared to other PR agencies.

The second lecture was for Burson Cohn & Wolfe. They are also a PR company who takes a different approach at their job. They want workers to be creative by having a strong community or impact for their clients. Due to being behind schedule, I feel like I did not get as much info on about them like I did with Battenhall. The only part I found interesting was how they wanted us involved. All their slides mentioned at the end on how to contact them or give them ideas. The task we had to do required switching ideas with fellow classmates to brainstorm potential pitches. Burson Cohn & Wolfe seemed very big on human connection or interaction.

Besides the two lectures, today was quite simple. We walked back to the hotel in the pouring rain, and I actually got to take a nap. For lunch and dinner I got to go to two different Italian food chains here in London which were delicious. I finally went to Oxford Street today so I could go to the Disney Store and learned how much designer and high fashion the street is. I will hopefully go back tomorrow since lots of shops close early in London. I am quite sad tomorrow is already the last day here, but I am ready to explore more of the UK.
