For once, my day didn’t start early in the morning! We had the morning free, so I was able to sleep in and feel nice and refreshed for the day.
I went to breakfast with Mya Burns and Maddy King at this cute cafe right outside our hotel called Rubens. I had a cinnamon and apple waffle and it was so good! They also had really good coffee! The area we are staying in is surrounded by water, so the views when walking anywhere are always so nice. When walking around the area, everyone was dressed up in their Liverpool FC jerseys and gear as the Premier League game was today for the championship!
Our group left around 1 to start our guided Beatles tour. I was really excited about this tour because it was one of the more relevant activities in regards to my major, Sports, Arts, and Entertainment Management. Our guide was very knowledgeable about everything Beatles and took us to all of the famous Beatles-related places in Liverpool, including all 4 of the member’s family homes, Strawberry Field, and the famous Penny Lane barbershop, Tony Salvin. I found the tour was really interesting because I didn’t know all that much about the Beatles, so to hear so much information from an expert.
After our Beatles tour ended, we got a late lunch/early dinner at Nando’s (yes, again). It is definitely one of my favorite restaurants we’ve been to on this trip! After our meal, we walked around the local shops until we realized that because it was Sunday, they were closing super early, around 5 o’clock. While all of this was going on, the championship game had just ended and Liverpool sadly lost their first spot place in the league. Manchester City was crowned the winner of the championships and Liverpool had taken second place in the league. It was oddly quiet around the city after the matches, much like back in Pittsburgh when the Steelers, Penguins, or Pirates would lose a game.
Maddy and I found a Starbucks that still happened to be open and sat in there to work on our blog posts, writing the one you are reading right now. After finishing our work, we took a walk down the riverfront and it was absolutely beautiful! The sun was just getting ready to set along the River Mersey.
After our walk, we parted ways and I began packing. We are leaving for Manchester tomorrow morning for a busy day of media visits, including a tour of BBC which I am very excited about!
