While the Duchess of Sussex gave birth to a baby boy I was on the plane acting like a bigger, fatter baby, fussing from a lack of sleep. The flight was long and I spent most of it wishing the plane was brighter so that I could read my book, which I was relying on to lull me to rest. When we arrived in London my first thought was, “I need coffee” but as we got on the bus and began to head towards Buckingham Palace I thought, “I need coffee.”
Buckingham was gorgeous and St. James’s Park looked like something out of a movie (I look forward to taking a peaceful stroll through St. James’s after I visit the Churchill War Rooms). After a brief stop, we piled back into the bus and I strapped myself into my big kid seat, immediately going unconscious. When I woke up we were at the London Tower, which was the most amazing experience because we had time to caffeinate beforehand.
My first meal in London, before we entered the tower, was at Wagamama. I had a delicious bowl of ramen with kim-chi and shrimp, a perfect meal for my tastes, only the shrimp was called prawn (Wow! London!)
The London Tower felt like a bit of a slight to me, personally, because I haven’t caught up on Game of Thrones and it was the perfect place for a fantasy nerd. Viewing the royal jewels and learning about the history of the towers’ battles was very interesting. Shamelessly, I was saving a lot of the information I got for the next time I play Dungeons and Dragons.
We finished the night with Fish and Chips and I ate till I was in pain. Exactly as planned.
