Day 1: Band On the Run – Paul McCartney

Today was the day that I thought was never going to come. It snuck up on me that I was going to be in London a whole 7-hour flight away from home. We got to the airport at 7 pm Pittsburgh time and not long after we were at the gate. We all had our computers and phones out watching as much of the new episode of Game of Thrones before we boarded the plane. I only got about 25 minutes in before we left and no longer had access to it.

The flight was a nice and easy one because it was a direct flight from Pittsburgh to London. I watched Holmes and Watson for the first movie of the flight and fell asleep halfway through it. I slept for most of the flight so I was feeling pretty good about touring London.

The group met up with Jan and our tour guide, David, to board our bus and took us on a scenic tour around the city. We stopped at Buckingham to take pictures but I drank to much water on the plane so my stop was spent walking through the park to find the public restroom. After a little while, we got back on the bus and headed to the London Tower for a tour. We broke for lunch and all I wanted to do was to get coffee so I found a Joe and the Juice, a place I couldn’t wait to go to, and I got a raspberry juice and an iced latte. We went to a ramen place for lunch and I just got an appetizer of beef satay.

When we went on the tour, I got to take some cool videos and photos all around the grounds. My favorite part was seeing the Crowned Jewels when the lady behind us announced that Meghan and Harry had their son today. Then, we got to our hotel in Bloomsbury with a ton of cool shopping places around. I couldn’t wait to take a shower.

For dinner, the group went out for fish and chips, but since I don’t eat seafood I got chicken and chips. It was so good after not eating a lot since the flight. I’m also pretty sure that they served me an entire small chicken, and topped it all off with a giant piece of chocolate cake. Tomorrow we have a lecture at Regents University. I plan on getting some shopping out of the way!
