We woke up nice and early for our flight to Edinburgh. We got the nicest bus we ever got for our 10-minute drive to the airport. What was about to happen to me in this airport I was not ready for though.
I was traumatized this morning. I was bringing a carry-on bag, and I guess Manchester is much more-strict about liquids and creams. They assumed my whole makeup bag in there was liquids, so three people completely unpacked my bags and put everything in those grey security bins. I had 7 full of my stuff and they randomly would throw it through the security scanner, and I asked if I could keep it all together since I’m stuck up there alone. I couldn’t see anyone from my group at the time, and didn’t want anyone to steal it. They told me I was talking back, so I just let them do their thing, and at that point I was just like I’ll check in another bag if it’s that big a deal, but they said it should be fine after this. After 45 minutes, the last guy who came over to go through was like, “there’s too many little liquids, you have to check it in,” and I was already through security at this point. I had a breakdown and cried because I was so frustrated. So, I had to get escorted back to check in, and go through it all over. My friends were waiting still waiting for me, which was so cute. Also, the check-in guy felt bad I think because he asked me why I had to check it in (he checked in my first bag), and I just said too many little liquids, and he said I didn’t have to pay, which was cute because I didn’t have the funds to anyways.
Once I was through, I got some KFC, and was shortly boarding the plane afterwards. I fell asleep as soon as I hit my seat. I even got a window seat, which I was so excited for, but it was the one window seat without a window. Just my luck for the day.
We arrived in Edinburgh, and shuttled to our hotel. Then, we went and saw the Edinburgh castle. It was one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen in my life. This view made the whole trip. It was the place where Mary Queen of Scotts got to rule, and she is my favorite queen, so I loved hearing more about her. St. Margaret’s Cathedral was also within the castle, and it was built in the 1100’s which was really cool to see.
We went on the Royal Mile Tour to see the road that lead to the castle, and the history behind it. It was hard to hear at some points because the road was so busy. We also saw where J.K Rowling wrote her Harry Potter books, and we walked down the street that was Diagon Ally in the movie. We went to a nice Italian group dinner, where I just had some garlic bread, pasta with meat sauce, and tiramisu. I was still so exhausted, so I just went to bed as soon as we got back from dinner.
