Day 11: Fields of Gold – Sting

Today five us woke up to take on Arthur’s Seat at 10 am. The walk to the extinct volcano took us probably as long as it did for us to reach the top. We had to walk own the Royal Mile and through a little park to reach the path up to the peak (not including our coffee and water break).

When we started hiking up the scenes just got more and more beautiful with every step. I had to stop and take photos every few steps because I didn’t want to forget anything. We got about halfway up and took a long break because it was pretty warm. Kelsie and I took our time getting up to the top since there were so many great photo opportunities. Everywhere you looked it was gold fields full of flowers.

We met David and Craig at the top where we took even more photos and videos of the views. You could see on for miles and miles to the beaches and the Edinburgh Castle seemed so small from up there. I really didn’t want to come down. I think this is definitely my favorite experience from the trip because it was a smaller group of us, we listened to music during the hike, and it was really relaxing to see Scotland from the top of a volcano.

We all came back down after taking all our photos and walked back up the Royal Mile to a little cafe for lunch. I got a deli wrap that wasn’t super great, but I probably would have eaten anything at that moment. David left us and shortly after Craig left so Kelsie and I went shopping around the Royal Mile and I bought some souvenirs.

I made us stop for juice because I love it and I got a mango and pineapple smoothie. Then I went back up to my room to shower so I could get ready for dinner. We had a group dinner at a place called Howie’s where I had a salad, chicken, and a banana pie dessert. Probably one of the better meals I had on the trip. Nandos is still holding a strong lead.

Sadly, tomorrow we say goodbye to the UK and head home, but I’m ready to see my dogs!
