A Bitter Sweet Ending: Day 11

Goodbye for now Edinburgh

Our last full day in Edinburgh was a memorable one, to say the least. We had the morning to do whatever we wanted before we met at 5:30 p.m. I decided to spend my morning exploring the city a little bit more by myself before meeting up with everyone.

First, I stopped by a French cafe where I order a coffee and a quiche for breakfast before setting out to walk the Royal Mile again. It was very liberating just being by myself in a new city, exploring different places and shops.

While out I was able to pick up a few things for my family, along with some authentic Scottish whiskey.

After my walk, I met back up with some friends, and we went to the Camera Obscura and World of Illusions. Camera Obscura & World of Illusions is the oldest purpose-built visitor attraction in Edinburgh, delighting and intriguing people for over 150 years. The star attraction is the Camera Obscura itself, a Victorian invention and the world’s first “TV.”

After exploring the museum, we met back up with the group for a meeting before heading out to dinner. Our farewell dinner was at a very delicious Italian restaurant, where we all laughed and told stories of our adventures.

Soon after finishing up dinner, we left and finished our night on a Hunted Edinburgh Tour of the old city. The tour not only was spooky but super engaging as well. I thought it was very fitting to end the night exploring the haunted town right before we made our departures the next day.

Overall, I can genuinely say that Edinburgh was my favorite part of the entire trip, and I know that one day I’ll eventually venture back there in the future.
