We traded in England today for Edinburgh in Scotland. I have been most excited for Scotland during this trip and paid off. We left our hotel outside of Manchester around 9 and found a huge luxury bus waiting for us. It had TVs, tables with comfy chairs, and even a coffee machine. Too bad that the ride to the airport was only 10 minutes.
When we got to the counter to check our bags, several people realized that there were strict restrictions on baggage. I luckily didn’t have any major issues, until we went through security and I had to get body searched for like 15 minutes. Lexi had it the worst and was stuck in security for around 40 minutes because of her carryon bags. She finally got out and then we went to wait for the flight and got KFC for lunch.
The flight was on a small plane that was barely anyone else on board besides our class. We landed in Edinburgh and boarded the coach that drove us to the hotel, which is right by the Edinburgh Castle. I love the hotel because they have really nice accommodations and our room looks over the main street.
After check-in, we headed out on foot to the castle where we had to walk up a mountain of steps. We reached the castle and David went to gather our tickets for us. I thought the castle was absolutely stunning especially from the top because you can see out for miles and miles. I didn’t turn my camera off the whole time because it was just so pretty.
The class then met with our tour guide, Alan who was wearing his walking kilt and he was a really fun guide. He walked us down and up the Royal Mile and told us little hidden secrets from the town. He also suggested that we walk up the volcano if we have a chance, so I think that’s what I want to do with my free day on Thursday.
The tour ended right by our hotel so we had about a half hour before we had to meet for dinner. Lexi and I ended up falling asleep and I woke up right before we had to leave. We all went to an Italian restaurant for dinner, so I was pretty happy since Italian is my favorite. I got the bruschetta to start and then pasta with a red sauce and pancetta. For dessert, we had my personal favorite, tiramisu.
When we got back from dinner, Dara, Julia, Diego and I went to walk around the town. We didn’t really do much but tomorrow is the final media visits!!!
