Day 5: It’s not Windseerrr it’s Windsor

Today was a sad day, it was the day we had to move out of our hotel in London and go on with our tour. London is such an amazing city and spending 3 days here is not enough. BUT we were heading to Windsor Castle to see the Queen’s home and then to Stratford-Avon for the night.

We took a hour long bus ride to Windsor Castle to see Queen Elizabeth II’s residence and man is she living the extravagant life. The Windsor Castle Grounds were huge, covering more than 13 acres of land across the town. In every direction you looked there was a royal something with gates and guards around the properties. We walked around the town for a little to get our bearings and then went towards the castle itself for a tour.

The tour was amazing, walking inside the castle walls was like traveling back in a time machine. I was immediately thrown back into the centuries of the magnificent English Empire. We got to explore through some of the greatest treasures in the Royal Collection in Castle’s state apartments along with The Royal Archives, the Royal Photograph Collection, the Print Room, and the Royal Library.

After, the tour we had a little bit of free time so we walked to get lunch at Cambridge, and then went down to the River Thames to hang out with some ducks and swans.

The day went by quickly, before I knew it we were leaving the ancient town and going towards Stratford-Avon. Stratford is the typical little English town in the country. It had sheep farms surrounding the town and a ton of houses with the classic timber frame. We went out for a walk to dinner through the  quaint town, i was blown away that everything was closed by 8:30. I guess coming from the big city to the country will take a little getting used to.
