Day 6: Shakespeare & Stratford

After getting breakfast at our hotel, our group started the morning off with a guided tour of Stratford-Upon-Avon. Our guide was very insightful and full of Shakespeare knowledge. She took us around Stratford-Upon-Avon, walking through parks, a cemetery, church, and up and down the main streets of Stratford-Upon-Avon.

One of the churches that we went to was where Shakespeare and some of his children/relatives were buried. It was really interesting to walk through the town and see all of the older buildings, some dating back as far as the 1500s, which is crazy to think about.

After finishing our guided tour, we arrived at Shakespeare’s Birthplace, where we walked through various rooms, even the room that they think Shakespeare was born in. When we walked out into the garden, there were performers reciting some of Shakespeare’s sonnets.

We walked around Stratford-Upon-Avon after our tour of Shakespeare’s Birthplace and grabbed lunch. We were limited on time, so we got a little taste of home by eating at Subway. There were a lot of cute shops in this area, including a Harry Potter story, various bookstores, and tea shops. We even stopped and got gelato before heading back to our hotel.

We departed from our hotel around 3 and started the 2 and a half hour drive to Liverpool. Once we arrived in Liverpool and got settled into our hotel, we left for our group dinner.

The view from our hotel room at Albert Dock in Liverpool.

While walking through the streets of Liverpool, I noticed nearly everyone wearing any and all Liverpool FC related clothing. Liverpool is playing in the Premier League Championships tomorrow at 3!

Our group dinner was at a Greek restaurant, which was exciting because I had never tried Greek food before. Everything we had was very good, but they served us so much food! Our waitress said that is just how the Greeks eat, always a full table spread.

Tomorrow we have the morning free, with a 3 hour Beatles tour starting at 1. Tomorrow will also be our last day in Liverpool as we leave Monday morning to head to Manchester! Can’t wait to pick up some Manchester United FC gear!
