Today we woke up bright and early for a lecture at Regent’s University London, one of the universities Point Park partners with for study abroad programs. After figuring out how to take The Tube, we arrived at Regent’s and met with a man named Jason Mackenzie.
During his 90 minute lecture, Jason taught us about the media landscape in the United Kingdom. We also discussed print media, specifically newspapers in the UK. This caught my attention because I am very interested in publication design. Perhaps the most important thing that Jason taught us was that content is king. The biggest thing we learned that day is that content is king. Jason was a great lecturer, he really encouraged learning and asking questions. He also made sure to connect with all of us on Linkedin, and it was really great to see a professional like him go out of his way to connect with a bunch of students because I feel like that’s not seldom seen in the US.
After our lecture, the rest of the day was a free day. I did some shopping and exploring around the city, then met up with the new friends I met on this trip. We made our way to a really cool bar called Cauldron. The bar was magic/wizard themed, it was set up like a potions class. We mixed “magical” ingredients together in a cauldron, waved some wands around, and eventually, delicious cocktails were brewed. I mean… Potions.
Now I’m looking forward to some much-needed sleep, we have a big day ahead of us tomorrow.
