Hitting the ground running yesterday made not only for a tiring day and night but for a great night of sleep too. After hopping on the Tube, we ended up at Regent’s University. Regent’s University is located inside of Regent’s Park. The park provides an ample amount of greenery for the university. It’s a gorgeous sight to see.
Inside the university, we met Jason Mackenzie who talked to us about the landscape of the UK media. Most of his presentation turned into an interactive discussion about how we consume media. One of the most fascinating parts of the lecture was an in-depth conversation about how content differs from what we know as a story.
After leaving Regent’s University, the trio (me, Angela and Jocelyn) took a small break at our hotel before starting our long adventure of the rest of the afternoon.
Truth be told, we really didn’t have a particular ‘destination’ or anything in mind. All we did was watch a video on YouTube titled ‘The 10 Top Instagrammable Spots in London” and tried to find the best places to get those Instagram pics.
We walked from Tottenham Court Road to Leicester Square where we sat in the green space for a little bit just taking everything around us in. If you ever have the chance to come to London, make sure that Leicester Square is on your to-do list.
If you’re lucky (like us), you’ll get to witness a man in the middle of the square, taking a very creative approach to creating music – with a standard traffic cone. Needless to say, we couldn’t walk through the square without laughing hysterically.
In an attempt to check another Instagrammable spot in London off of our list, we ended up in Covent Gardens. I’ve never seen anything of this stature in the United States, and for good reason. It’s essentially a huge outdoor-ish shopping center with designer stores and little handmade shops alike. It’s uniquely London and it makes perfect sense.
To finish off our night, we found a local pub we were going to walk to. But after discovering it was a 15-minute walk from our hotel (with tired feet), we decided to stay a bit more local. We found this lovely little pub and had nice British pub food. It was the perfect end to an amazing day. This place might become one of my favorite places… if only it was closer.
Oh and also, the pigeons fly REALLY LOW and aren’t afraid to impede on your personal space. I must be a pigeon magnet because I dodged way too many today.
